Ms. Torres pulled out a roll of green tape. She stuck a piece to a spot on the floor. âThis tape marks downstage center. When it is your turn to audition, you will stand here, point your toes to the audience, and recite your monologue. Any questions?â
Lana raised her hand. âWhatâs a monologue?â she asked.
âGood question,â Ms. Torres said. âA monologue is a long speech or set of lines said by one actor. If you donât have one prepared, thatâs okay. You can say your favorite nursery rhyme. Most importantly, have fun, and be sure to add your own flair. Now, who wants to go first?â
Maria was energized from running around the stage. Before she could think twice, her hand shot up!
